This is one of thoes things on the list that truthfully will *never* be finished, not if I live to be a hundred, so how, when the time comes will I mark it 'done' - well, in truth, that was hard to figure out, but my inner geek is of aid in this, I sat down and I made a list of things related to my spiritual path that I'd like to learn more about - a sort of syllabus if you will, including everything from the history of Paganism, to divination, spirit guides, astral projection and dreamwork - some of which might seem fairly loosely attached to Paganism, but for me at least, are related.
The thing about me is, I've known now for a little over two years that this is the right path for me, since I first sat down and read Exploring the Pagan Path at a friends house, I knew it was where I was supposed to be, the things I read there *felt* right, to who I was and to who I wanted to be, but alas, real life has a way of complicating matters.
At the time, I was teaching Sunday School (which in truth, I should have stopped long before, because it had long since become a chore I felt required to do, telling children stories of a God I myself hadn't truely believed in since I was not much older than them - but that's a tale for another day), living at home with an elderly grandmother who was ill and being harrassed on and off by social workers who must think I have super magic powers and can both stay up all night and all day. Well truthfully, not much has changed, except that I quit teaching Sunday School - it took me a year longer than I'd planned, because another teacher left and I once more felt obligated to hang around - I suppose because the people there had been very good to me for a lot of years, but I quit - I freely admit I didn't tell anyone the real reason *why* I was quitting, but I did... that was in June 2008 - but I haven't moved forward much since then, I could blame it on a lot of things, I still have my grandmother to deal with, social workers harrassing me, same old, same old... but the thing is, it's all just... an excuse, a valid one maybe, but if I truely want to follow this path, then *I* am the one responcible for doing it.
I have only three friends that I know of that identify as Pagan, or sorta... one, is not really a close friend, more one that I see once or twice a year at cons, the other... I should speak to more than I do and hopefully, I'll be able to fix that and the last I speak to regualarly, but we don't really discuss it... basically, it leaves me alone to figure out my path and I'm okay with that, at least for now, at some point, I'll want to mix with others, either online or in person, but for the moment, I need to be sure of *my* thoughts, feelings and beliefs, before I contend with other peoples, I want to know the path I'm following is mine, not that I'm just tagging along with someone elses because it's easier than working things out for myself. With that in mind, as mentioned, my inner geek has come up with the 'syllabus' below. When I feel I've learned at least a bit (or a bit more) about everything listed here, I'll mark this one as complete, although I will never stop learning... but I do after all, only half 1001 days for this list... I'll even try and post a little bit about everything I'm learning, maybe it can some day help someone else who is in the same place I am, with the clear knowledge that *this is my path* but a little unsure about what I'll find along the way... and what forks in the road to take, when I do come across them.
